While a beautiful smile after orthodontic treatment is one reason to straighten your teeth, there are often functional and oral health reasons to receive orthodontic treatment as well. Orthodontic treatment corrects problems such as overbites, underbites, open bites and crossbites, as well as the more common problems of crooked and misaligned teeth.
Your teeth are easier to care for when properly aligned, and a straight smile will help you reduce your risk of severe tooth decay, periodontal disease, bone loss, TMJ disorders and worn tooth enamel. Our dentist offers several orthodontic treatment options, including Invisalign® clear aligners, traditional metal braces and ceramic braces.
Invisalign® Clear Aligners
Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment which relies on clear plastic aligners to straighten your teeth. Your aligners are computer-generated to ensure precision in moving your teeth, and are made with clear plastic to give you a nearly invisible treatment. As you switch to a new set of aligners every few weeks, your teeth will gradually be repositioned. Your aligners are also removable, enabling you to enjoy all your normal activities and favorite foods.
Traditional metal braces are the tried-and-true orthodontic treatment. Metal brackets and wires are attached to your teeth, and gradually move your teeth and bite into their proper positions.
Ceramic braces work on the same principals as metal braces, with brackets and wires gradually correcting the alignment of your teeth. However, these brackets are made of tooth-colored material which blends into your teeth to give you a more discreet orthodontic treatment.
